In our warm savannah house you can experience many other animals of the savannah in addition to free-flying birds. Enjoy this house, unique in Europe, and learn more about the new aquaponic facility.
Nocturnal animal house
Can you spot our fox cusus in the dim light? If you try hard you can even see brush-tailed rat kangaroos. Look forward to more exciting roommates in the nocturnal animal house.

Walk from the accessible kangaroo enclosure directly into a free-flight aviary? No problem with us! Colorful cockatoos next to dainty zebra finches and the visitors right in the middle, what an experience.
about us
Located in the middle of Theresienstein, the Hof Zoological Garden is a wonderful place to spend some exciting and instructive hours there. Wonderfully cool in summer and beautifully snow-covered in winter, the zoo offers a welcome excursion opportunity for all seasons.
Many of our facilities are accessible and the animals can be experienced and photographed without the annoying bars. If you haven't had enough after the zoo, you can visit the nearby Hof Botanical Garden for free.
Zoo as a place of learning
Our zoo school
Despite our small size, as a zoo we have our own zoo school with a zoo pedagogue. We have developed many different concepts for kindergarten groups or school classes up to 7th grade. Ask at info@zoo-hof.de about teaching opportunities in the zoological garden.
Geological garden in the zoo
The geological garden depicts the city of Hof and its surroundings. The historic old town of Hof is reconstructed from cobblestones with the watercourse (Saale). The large walled green areas are the landscapes of the surrounding region with its rocks. The formation and properties of the rocks of the Fichtelgebirge, the Münchberger Masse, the Franconian Forest and the Vogtland are explained on 50 stone exhibits.
